The gamer has access to full customization of a simple flight over the photorealistic territories of the United States of America and the world, because the developers took pictures that were used as the basis for creating the environment. The game lacks all sorts of competitive modes, careers or dramatic plot moves. For beginners, it is suggested to visit a flight school, where they will teach the basics of control. After takeoff, you can enjoy the following locations: the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the busiest and most famous airports in the world, business centers with elite high-rise buildings, and much more. The physical model of aircraft behavior, close to the real one, as well as the graphical part of the project. This will give the process a sense of presence in the cockpit, where all the dashboards are animated and show figures corresponding to what is happening.
Support for VR headsets and their joysticks is available.

Otherwise, I will continue spending my simming time in another sim and I would love to be able to have MSFS as a valid option – perhaps even my main sim.Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator - an indie flight simulator based on high-precision copies of real-life helicopters and airplanes. But I am more than willing to wait for them to do a good job.
I can’t wait to fly around the sim in a whirlybird. The only concern I have is if MS and Asobo will have enough time to do what they want to do. I’m pumped up about having helicopters in 2022.

All this makes sense to me technically and business-wise (again, perhaps because of my professional background). I understand this can be frustrating for some people. Let’s not forget something else: there’s an XBox release coming up as well and, as much as most of us don’t care about it, this will strengthen the market for the sim, increase sales and bring more money, which will mean the product will continue to be supported inside Microsoft and we will continue seeing updates. They will invest a portion, see how sales go, invest more money, and so on.Īnd we all know where the money is. Even if they plan to invest 10 billion dollars, they won’t do it all at once. They do have money, but they are not putting any money into the product unless it’s profitable. Oh yes, it’s Microsoft, it’s a huge company, they have money. Microsoft and Asobo released the sim 6 months ago and you have to admit that they are doing a lot more than any other sim out there. So, that’s really a 7-year history prior to developing helicopters. But there is no ground traffic, no world scenery, no real-world weather, quite limited weather system and a lot of other features that simply don’t exist. The first version of the sim was released in 2011 and they also released several version for the mobile market. IPACS did it in a couple of years AFTER they had a stable and a lot more limited sim.Īerofly FS2 was released in 2014. IPACS wanted me to try the R22 but they wanted me to do it as I also tried the VRMotion platform. They couldn’t say more at the time, but they wanted me to know that the process was rolling.įast forward to late 2017/beginning of 2018 and IPACS finally told me they were working with VRMotion and none other than Claude Vuichard to bring the first helicoter to Aerofly FS2. In the middle of 2017, IPACS told me that they were looking into helicopters. They were interested in taking a look at them but they wanted to make it a meaningul and impactful feature of the sim. This meant that Aerofly FS 2 would finally get a second helicopter which would be a step up in terms of complexity and the operating range of rotorcraft in the simulator. I started talking to IPACS about the possibility of them adding helicopters to the sim in 2016 and their response was a bit like Microsoft’s at the time. IPACS first announced this twin-turboshaft helicopter for Aerofly FS 2 in July 2020 -boasting many advanced features and the ability to start from a cold and dark state. The story behind it is a funny “perfect-storm” and it’s actually an example of what is happening with MSFS.
It’s curious that you mention Aerofly FS2 as it’s often overlooked, although IPACS did a wonderful job. Even 2022 seems a bit too optimistic but I believe it’s doable. That’s what I think as well and that I think that should be the goal: take the time necessary to make it the right way.
